The Town of Clayton is the fastest growing municipality in the fastest growing county in the State of North Carolina. Entrepreneurs like the progressive and cooperative spirit shared by business and civic leaders. Families like the secure feeling of living in a close knit, neighborly atmosphere with community schools and abundant recreational and cultural activities. Clayton is proud to have the Building and Construction Products Division of industrial giant Caterpillar as a major employer. The Caterpillar name is known world-wide, and their premier line of backhoes and rubber tire loaders are assembled in Clayton, North Carolina.
